The Advisory Council is in place to give advice to the Me in a Tree team based on their experience and expertise. With the guidance and input of the Advisory Council Me in a Tree will continue to improve the Me in a Tree site and continue to expand and enhance the site to fully support parents in their desire to reach their self determined dreams for their families and children; together with the dreams their children will develop for themselves. This same council will provide insight into new site development focused primarily on kids into adulthood as well as parents to provide tools for successful living.
Judy Arnall Judy is an international award winning speaker and a well-known Canadian parenting expert, having given advice for television interviews on CBC, CTV, and Global as well as publications such as Chatelaine, Today’s Parent, Canadian Living, Parents and newspapers such as the Globe and Mail, Sun Media and PostMedia News. She teaches parenting at The University of Calgary, Continuing Education, Chinook Learning, and Alberta Health Services. Judy is the author of the Canadian bestseller, “Discipline Without Distress: 135 Tools for raising caring, responsible children without time-out, spanking, punishment or bribery.” As a parent of five children, Judy has a broad understanding of the issues facing parents and the digital generation and just released an educational DVD titled “Plugged-In Parenting: Connecting with the Digital Generation for Health, Safety and Love.”
Kevin Baer Kevin Baer is a fully licensed IIROC broker and life Insurance agent, that is presently working as afinancial advisor with Edward Jones. As a financial planning professional he passionately believes in the power of education and is keen to give children the the opportunity to learn, at an early age, to manage their money and become financially responsible. His practice is focused on empowering families to make well informed decisions to better their lives as well as their communities. Kevin serves on a number of community advisory boards and often provides investor education to the community through free seminars. Kevin is married to Erin and together have four children ranging from newborn to seven years of age.
Patti Blackstaffe Patti Blackstaffe has over 16 years in non- profit, education and business working on the humanity side of organizational behavior, workplace culture, customer service, and leadership development. She is an entrepreneur with a penchant for helping people collaborate, plan, strategize, connect and excel. Her mission for organizations world-wide is to implement strategies and processes for her clients to build more efficient, effective and happy workplaces.

Speaker, writer, trainer, coach and organizational consultant, Patti was nominated in 2011 for an RBC Canadian Woman Entrepreneur Award, Listed in the World’s Top 30 Leadership Gurus in 2010, included in 101 Woman Bloggers to Watch in 2009 by We Magazine for Women and listed as one of the Top 150 Management Blogs by NOOP.NL. A champion for people at all levels in work, life and community; she is especially passionate about efforts supporting children and sits on the Board of Directors for Providence, a Health Education and Therapy Centre for preschool children with disabilities. She is passionate about Me in a Tree and it’s unique approach to helping parents raise happy productive adults through togetherness and fun.

Toni Guffei Toni has more than 15 years of experience in providing marketing, research and strategic development for companies within a variety of industries. She owns Ratio Marketing, a firm that consults to growing companies about their target market preferences, competitive analyses and industry trends by undertaking a range of research techniques. Toni has a degree in Economics from the University of Alberta and an MBA from the University of Victoria. In addition to running her own business, she teaches Marketing Research courses part time at the Bissett School of business at Mount Royal University in Calgary, AB. She is also involved in volunteer work as a consultant with the Centre for Non-Profit Management and a Board Member (and Past President) of the Calgary Council for Advanced Technology.
Dr. Kay Kuzma Dr. Kay Kuzma, wife, mother, friend, and author of over 35 books and hundreds of articles, is founder and speaker of Family Matters, a ministry to promote wholesome family relationships and reduce alienation and abuse. Kay received her Master’s Degree in child development from Michigan State University and her Doctorate in early childhood education from UCLA. After teaching at the university level for over 25 years and hosting a daily radio feature, Got a Minute for Your Family?, she now does radio and television parenting spots on Three Angels Broadcasting Network. She has been a popular guest on hundreds of radio and television shows, including NBC Today’s Show, Voice of Prophecy and NPR, and is a dynamic and entertaining motivational speaker and family educator.
Luis Lopez Director, Studio Operations, Nelvana Studios Corus Entertainment Inc. As Director of Studio Operations with 15 years of experience in Film and Television production, Luis is responsible for leading the production of animated children’s content at Nelvana. He manages the production team, oversees budgets and leads relationships with local and international partners. In addition to managing Nelvana’s operation, he coordinates the efforts between the production, marketing, interactive and distribution divisions.

Overseeing the production of more than 150 half hours of original children’s content per year. Luis’ credits include: Mike The Knight, Backyardigans, Franklin 3D, Bakugan, Handy Manny, Spliced, Hot Wheels, Grossology, - multiple Emmy®-winning series Rolie Polie Olie and most recently Scaredy Squirrel, Babar and Bubble Guppies.

His creative, technical and business experience extends across the TV, Film and digital new media, over the past decade Luis has been instrumental in the studio's creative development and foray into digital technologies. Luis is a member of the President’s Council at Corus, he sits on the advisory board at Sheridan College, the board of the Ottawa International Animation Festival, and is a deeply devoted supporter of the Canadian production industry.

Prior to leading Nelvana’s production initiatives he developed cutting-edge Feature Film VFX and CG workflows and served as Technical Director on Hollywood films including The Big Hit and Dr. Dolittle for Sony Pictures and Fox.
Greg Royer Throughout the past 35 plus years Greg Royer has held numerous executive positions in the hospitality industry, including co-founder and Chief Operations Officer of Relax Hotels and Resorts; President of Travelodge Canada Corp and President of Resort Vacation International which he built into one of Canada’s largest timeshare businesses. Greg has served as President of Royco Hotels Ltd and Royco Hotels Inc, as well as President and CEO of Royal Host REIT (TSX RYL.UN). Greg consistently received recognition in running a company that operated those hotels at the highest level of the franchisors’ standards by developing and implementing programs that facilitated the growth and development of the people around him in realizing their full potential. Additionally, Greg has served on various boards, including his current position on the board of the Southern Alberta Make-A-Wish Foundation.

As a father of four adult children, Greg is well versed in the challenges and rewards of raising a family in today’s world. Devoting his time to work and family he sees the benefits Me in a Tree will afford families of present day and the future and believes we can, together, make a difference.
